Role Overview:
Seeking a qualified Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for a temporary afternoon assignment in Cheboygan, MI. The ideal candidate will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, ensure quality control standards, and manage blood bank protocols to support accurate patient diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Testing & Analysis: Perform routine laboratory procedures using diagnostic equipment (analyzers, spectrophotometers, colorimeters, flame photometers). Analyze blood cells using microscopic techniques.
- Blood Bank Operations: Conduct blood grouping, typing, and compatibility testing; prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for patient transfusions.
- Quality Assurance & Maintenance: Run standards and controls, perform preventive maintenance, and execute advanced quality control troubleshooting on laboratory instruments.
- Equipment & Inventory: Maintain laboratory supplies inventory. Calibrate equipment, resolve malfunctions, schedule repairs, and evaluate new instrumentation/techniques as needed.
- Documentation & Compliance: Collect, analyze, and summarize findings to prepare diagnostic reports in accordance with facility protocols.
Submission & Qualification Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of MLT experience. [REQUIRED]
- Blood Bank: Recent, hands-on Blood Bank experience. [REQUIRED]
- Certification: Active ASCP certification. [REQUIRED]
Schedule & Shift Details:
- Shift Type: Afternoons
- Shift Schedule:
- Monday – Friday: 12:30 PM – 9:00 PM (10-hour daily shifts)
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- On-Call Requirements: Possible call rotation.
