Schedule & Assignment Terms:
- Shift Type: Afternoons
- Weekday Schedule: Monday – Friday, 12:30 PM – 9:00 PM (10-hour daily shifts)
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- On-Call Requirements: Possible call rotation
Role Overview:
Seeking a qualified Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for a temporary afternoon assignment in Cheboygan, MI. The technologist will perform routine and complex laboratory testing according to standardized methodology, maintain quality control standards, and manage blood bank protocols to support accurate patient diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities & Clinical Scope:
Diagnostic Testing & Analysis:
- Routine & Complex Testing: Perform routine laboratory procedures using automated analyzers, spectrophotometers, colorimeters, flame photometers, and specialized laboratory equipment.
- Hematology & Microscopy: Analyze blood cells by counting and identifying cellular components using microscopic techniques.
- Blood Bank Operations: Conduct blood grouping, typing, and compatibility testing; prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for patient transfusions.
Quality Control & Equipment Maintenance:
- Quality Assurance: Maintain precise laboratory results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function, and performing advanced quality control troubleshooting.
- Equipment Management: Calibrate instruments, perform routine preventive maintenance following manufacturer guidelines, resolve operational malfunctions, coordinate repair services, and evaluate new equipment/techniques.
Operations & Inventory:
- Inventory Control: Monitor and maintain laboratory supply inventories to ensure continuous testing availability.
- Reporting & Compliance: Collect, analyze, and summarize findings to prepare accurate technological reports for patient medical records.
Qualification & Submission Requirements:
Experience & Clinical Background:
- Clinical Experience: Minimum of 2 years of active MLT/MT experience [REQUIRED].
- Blood Bank Expertise: Recent, hands-on Blood Bank testing experience [REQUIRED].
Professional Credentials:
- Certification: Active ASCP certification (MT or MLT) maintained in good standing [REQUIRED].
