Position Overview & Operational Scope:
A community hospital in southern New Hampshire is seeking a Temporary Patient Access Representative to oversee patient registration, insurance verification, pre-authorization, and central scheduling. This role serves as a primary patient point of contact, handling pre-admission, admission, discharge, and registration processes across multiple hospital departments, including the Emergency Department.
Core Responsibilities & Administrative Scope:
- Patient Intake & Registration: Accurately complete patient registrations for inpatient admissions, surgical procedures, outpatient ancillary services (laboratory, radiology, oncology, wound care, cardiology, occupational health, PFTs), and Emergency Department visits.
- Insurance & Authorization: Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain treatment pre-authorizations within required timeframes, and process patient financial/credit reports.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Schedule outpatient laboratory and diagnostic imaging services while collaborating with patient care teams and physician offices to facilitate timely appointments.
- Legal & Regulatory Compliance: Explain and execute required healthcare forms (Advance Directives, Consent for Treatment, EMTALA guidelines, Conditions of Service, Important Message from Medicare) while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality.
- Cross-Departmental Coverage: Perform core access and registration duties across at least two distinct patient access service areas, including emergency settings.
Candidate Submission & Qualification Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent [REQUIRED].
- Experience: 2 to 3 years of current, relevant administrative/access experience in a medical setting [REQUIRED].
- Clinical Knowledge: Strong background in medical terminology, patient scheduling, and front-end registration workflows [REQUIRED].
- EHR Systems: Hands-on experience with Paragon EMR [PREFERRED].
