Position Overview & Clinical Scope:
An outpatient clinic in the Minnetonka, MN area is seeking a Permanent Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a full-time day position. The CMA/LPN manages clinic workflow, assists providers in patient care across diverse age groups (infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric), and executes delegated tasks under the supervision of clinic providers and nursing leadership in accordance with Minnesota state practice boards.
Key Responsibilities & Clinical Duties:
Clinical Patient Care & Workflow:
- Standard Rooming & Vitals: Manage patient flow throughout the clinic, obtain vital signs, update medical histories, and prepare patients for examinations and treatments.
- Medication Administration & Testing: Administer immunizations, injections, and provider-directed medications; perform point-of-care laboratory tests and specimen collections.
- Specialized Clinical Support (Based on Clinic Need): Perform venipuncture (phlebotomy), assist with minor procedures, and perform basic diagnostic X-rays if certified (must have passed the state X-ray operator exam).
Administrative & Clinic Operations:
- Triage & Communication: Provide telephone support, answer patient inquiries, facilitate communication between patients and providers, and process prescription refills.
- Front Desk & Prior Authorizations: Assist with patient check-in/front desk duties and facilitate prior authorizations as needed.
- Supply & Inventory Management: Requisition, receive, and stock exam rooms and clinical spaces with medical supplies.
Candidate Submission & Qualification Requirements:
Requirements for Medical Assistant (CMA) Candidates:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED [REQUIRED].
- MA Program Accreditation: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program (ABHES or CAAHEP accredited) OR graduation from an RMA program accredited by a national organization (e.g., AMT) with relevant on-the-job experience and a passing RMA certification exam score [REQUIRED; documentation required].
- Life Support: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification [REQUIRED; document upload required].
Requirements for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Candidates:
- State Licensure: Active Minnesota LPN License verified in good standing at the time of profile submission [REQUIRED; document upload required].
- Life Support: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification [REQUIRED; document upload required].
